When you buy something online it is very important that you carefully read the description of the item and that you trust the seller. Some sellers are desperate and will sell you junk and lie or distort the description. We don't do that. We are honest and we don't sell anything that we believe to be junk.
This Cobra GPS100 is a good example of how we sell things. I purchased this about five years ago on Ebay and I used it lightly three times. It was sold as a refurbished used unit in good working condition and it is in the same condition today. I was not happy with the purchase for the following reasons:
1. My area has a lot of tree cover and the unit took a long time to acquire satellites
2. Once it acquires the satellites it often loses them if you enter tree cover again.
3. It seems to enjoy eating batteries although if you use better batteries they do last longer
So based on my experience I would not recommend this unit for areas where there are mountains or heavy tree cover that will cause you problems acquiring and then losing the satellites.
HERE ARE THE GOOD POINTS:
1. Price is low $28 plus shipping and handling of $12 to any North American address.
2. Unit is in good condition Very minor scuffs on display that do not affect use. It is built tough with a rubber shock absorbing strip surrounding the unit.
3. Would work much better in an environment where there were a clear and unobstructed view of the heavens.
4. A good starter GPS and when you want to buy a new expensive one you can still probably trade this one with one of your buddies for something useful!
